Hi all
Here is the new KCM Tech Hub – a place to come and find out all the new and exciting things that I find during the month. Short reviews, links, tricks and simple how-to-use ideas for you.
October Tech Tip – www.flat.io – I trialled this with my Year 12 and it worked a treat. More suited to elective classes but very good to use with juniors. Work best on desktop rather than ipad. Students really enjoyed this platform. Works best with small groups or pairs working on the same document. Certainly changes the way one collaborates when composing.
November Tech Tip – Just took a look at the Wolfie app to teach piano. Looks impressive. It is an app for iPad. As a teacher you are able to track your students progress, practice etc as each session is recorded on the iPad. There is a free months subscription and then will cost after that. However get two students to sign up and y receive a free years subscription. I am trialling it at the moment but haven’t been on it for a month so I will report back in a month to let you know what happens. Here is the PDF that explains about the app. Here is the link to the pdf that explains the app – http://tinyurl.com/nrfp33p
December Tech Tip – Ear Trainer is an educational tool designed for musicians, music students and anyone interested in improving ones musical ear. It is filled with over 160 individual exercises covering intervals, chords, scales and relative pitch. Cost is $6.99
February Tech Tip – Simple Music is a great app for composition. It is free and the possiblities are limitless for discussions and composition activities. The Main Grid is set up in a combination of major and minor thirds. This makes for very interested discussions around chords, harmonic choice, the axis theory and plenty more ideas.
